One of the things I love most about being a documentary photographer is that the candid focus allows me to hold more space for families with young children. When you’re out in nature, kids will do what kids do best: run and explore. Instead of fighting this during family sessions and forcing polished portrait moments, I prefer to lean into the free spirited nature of the kids.
What will hold more meaning in the future? Super posed “perfect” family portraits or photos that gave your kids room to be themselves and highlight their personalities?
Session Location: Lowville DEC Forestry Demonstration Area in Lewis County, NY.
